A taxonomic review of the Indian species of Xenomerus Walker (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae)

ABSTRACT: The five species of genus Xenomerus Walker (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) known from India- X.ergenna Mikó and Masner, X.orientalis Mikó and Masner, X. yamagishi Mikó and Masner, X. atomus Rajmohana and Narendran and X. indicus Mukerjee are reviewed taxonomically. Accordingly, X. atomus is redescribed along with illustrations and is established as a fully valid species. An identification key to all the five species of Xenomerus from India is also provided.
Review of the taxonomic status of some and revised key to all the genera of the tribe Elachipterini (Diptera: Oscinellinae) and description of a new species of Myrmecosepsis Becker from India

ABSTRACT: The tribe Elachipterini is redefined, status of some of the genera is discussed, 14 genera are recognized and revised key to genera of the tribe is given. A new species of the rare Oriental genus Myrmecosepsis is described and a key to the species of the genus is also given.
A new phreatic species of genus Parastenocaris Kessler (Copepoda: Harpacticoida: Parastenocarididae) from southeastern India, with a key to species of Indian subcontinent

ABSTRACT: Parastenocaris tirupatiensis sp. nov. is described from southeastern India. It has a unique combination of characters in the male (the female unknown): leg 4 with five unequal, imbricate petaloid spinules at base of carpel-like hyaline endopod; leg 5 primitively large, with short spinous apical process, and unusually long, sturdy spinules on inner margin; caudal rami about 4 × width, with lateral group of setae and dorsal seta located distally and opposite each other; antennule “coiled type”; leg 2 endopod short, spatulate, with claw-like apical seta; leg 1 with inner armature element on basis, and endopod longer than exopod and with inner spinules; and leg 3 with rudimentary endopodal segment, apophysis shorter than thumb, and exopod with one row of spinules. This new phreatic species has some affinity with the West African Monodicaris species. A key to all the 16 parastenocaridid species known from the Indian subcontinent is also provided.
Puntius madhusoodani (Teleostei: Cyprinidae), a new species of barb from Manimala River, Kerala, South India

ABSTRACT – Puntius madhusoodani, a new species of barb is described from Manimala River, Kerala, South India. This species can be distinguished from all its congeners by the combination of following characters: presence of one pair of short maxillary barbels less than eye diameter and 4.39% in SL, a smaller snout forming 8.06% in SL, 25-26 lateral line scales; dorsal fin inserted nearer to tip of snout, than to caudal fin base; absence of spot at the dorsal fin base; paired fins hyaline, and the branched rays of the dorsal and anal fin tinted with black.
On a new genus of Teleasinae (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) from India

ABSTRACT: A new Teleasinae Dvivarnus punctatus Rajmohana & Veenakumari gen. et. sp. nov. (Platygastridae: Hymenoptera), is described from South India. The new genus is apparently confined to the Deccan plateau, Southern India. Bioecological notes and a distribution map of the new genus are appended. Affinities of Dvivarnus with other Indian genera of Teleasinae are discussed. A dichotmous key to distinguish the genera of Indian Teleasinae is also provided.
A new species of the braconid genus Perilitus Nees (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Euphorinae) from India

ABSTRACT: A new species of the braconid genus Perilitus Nees, subgenus Microctonus Wesmael i.e. Perilitus (Microctonus) sharifi Shamim sp. nov. is described from India. The new species is distinguished from P. (M.) galbus (Chen and Achterberg) from China in having occipital carina complete, intertentorial line 4x tentorio-ocular line, antenna longer than body, scutellar sulcus deep with one median strong carina and four weak lateral carinae. The new species also distinguished from P. (M.) strigosus (Shamim, Ahmad & Samiuddin) in having antenna with 22 segments, mesopleuron dorsally punctate and length of vein 1-R1 0.54x length of pterostigma.
